The unemployment rate in the North Country is down when compared to last year’s figures.
Across the country, the unemployment rate dropped from 9.7 percent in July 2010 to 9.3 percent last month.
New York saw its unemployment rate drop from 8.6 percent in July 2010 to just 8 percent in July 2011. That’s according to the latest jobs numbers released by the state Department of Labor.
Essex County’s employment figures are among the strongest in the region. The jobless rate was 7.6 percent at this point in 2010 and just 7.2 percent this year.
Franklin County’s unemployment rate dropped just slightly, from 8.3 percent to 8.2 percent.
Clinton County is making progress, too, moving from double figures in July 2010 to 9.6 percent this year.
