Harvard defeats UVM 2-0 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Two second half goals from Erin Wylie and Katherine Sheeliegh propelled Harvard past Vermont, 2-0, in the final non-conference game of the season for the Catamounts in Cambridge, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, Wylie took a throw-in from teammate Kerry Kartsonis and was able to slip the ball past Vermont goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt.) to put the Crimson ahead, 1-0, at the 52:59 mark. Just over 14 minutes later Katherine Sheeleigh broke free from the UVM defense and was able to convert a one-on-one opportunity against Bradley. It was Sheeleighs sixth goal of the season. Harvard out shot Vermont 27-8 in the match. Bradley was credited with 10 saves in the Vermont net, while Lauren Mann had to make one stop for her eighth shutout of the season. Harvard improves to 8-3-1 on the year, while Vermont falls to 1-11-1 overall. The Catamounts will be back in action on Sunday (Oct. 14) when they host New Hampshire in an America East match at 1:00pm at Centennial Field. New Hampshire downs UVM 2-1 BURLINGTON Senior Caitlin Serafine had a goal and an assist and teammate Caitlin Whalen added two helpers to lead the New Hampshire Wildcats to a 2-1 victory over Vermont in America East womens soccer action on Sunday afternoon. New Hampshire improves to 8-5-1 overall and 4-1-0 in league play, while Vermont drops to 1-12-1 overall and 0-4-0 in America East. New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead just before the end of the first half. Vermonts Emilie Rowe (Rochester, N.Y.) stopped the ball from going over the endline in UVMs defensive end and goalkeeper Eliza Bradley (Charlotte, Vt.) picked up the ball. The referee determined that it was a pass back to the goalie by UVM and awarded UNH an indirect kick from the six-yard line. After a touch from Whelan, Serafine blasted the shot into the net to give New Hampshire the lead.
