Inspectors must get with the program: Vermont's new residential building energy code went into effect Oct. 1.
Vermont has a new set of residential energy rules. Vermont Department of Public Service Commissioner Elizabeth Miller announced that the newly revised residential building energy code went into effect Oct. 1.
Miller said building new homes in Vermont under the new 2011 energy code will yield energy savings of 10-20 percent over the earlier code.
The new residential applies to alterations and renovations for existing homes and new construction.
Miller said a new commercial energy code starts in January.
