Moriah downed Elizabethtown-Lewis, 66-45, in non-league boys basketball play Dec. 27. Tied at 12-12, Moriah went on a 20-6 run to grab a big lead in the second period. Jesse Smith led the Vikings with 14 points including three three pointers. Nick Slattery and Hayden Whalen both had 10 points each. Nathan Gilbo, who was just brought up to varsity, had 10 points for the Vikings. Ticonderoga third Schenectady Christian proved to be as good as advertised, winning the Lake George Athletic Booster Club Holiday Tournament in boys basketball action. The Falcons, the third-ranked team in the latest state Class C poll, beat host Lake George, 80-47, in the championship game Dec. 28. Ticonderoga took third place with a 63-50 win against Mayfield in the consolation game. Schenectady Christian used a 28-12 run the second quarter to secure the title tilt. The defending Section II, Class CC champion made 13 3-pointers, led by tournament Most Valuable Player Brian Bishop, who made five treys for 15 points. Peter Serafimovski paced the Falcons with 21 points and six rebounds. Jake Bowman added 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. Kelsey Collins chipped in with 12 points. Nathaniel Miller finished with 19 points for Lake George. Lake George took a 13-12 lead on a Miller jumper with 39 seconds left in the first quarter, but that was their highlight. The Falcons responded by hitting two consecutive 3-pointers by Collins and Bishop to close the quarter. Jake Nelson grabbed 11 rebounds for Lake George. Ticonderoga led all the way in winning the consolation game. Hunter Denno scored 12 points and hauled down 13 rebounds to pace the Sentinels. Jesse Clark added 10 points for Ti, which held a 34-18 halftime advantage. In the opening round Dec. 27, Lake George topped Mayfield, 86-38. Nathaniel Miller scored 20 points to lead the Warriors.
