In other business, the village of Saranac Lake will hold a public hearing next week on a zoning change that could attract new businesses to the area.
“The village of Saranac Lake is considering the possibility of a planned unit development,” Mayor Clyde Rabideau said.
He said the Planned Unit Development, or PUD, would create a set of business friendly zoning standards that would attract retailers and other entrepreneurs to the village.
“If were were to have a PUD then we could entertain large retail operations or the acquisition or annexation of the (Adirondack Management Agency campus or any other area in excess of a few acres,” Rabideau said. “It’s a tool for growth and it’s a tool for sustainable growth.
The public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26. Rabideau said those who cannot attend are encouraged to call, email or write the village.
