The Saranac Lake Village Board of Trustees will begin searching for a new fire driver following the resignation of Ronald Muncil.
Muncil served as a fire driver for the village for more than two decades. Trustees voted to accept his resignation, effective Jan. 31.
Mayor Clyde Rabideau thanked Muncil for his service and asked village Clerk Kareen Tyler to draft a letter of appreciation.
The board then voted to begin a search for a new fire driver. Trustee Allie Pelletieri asked if the village should begin by notifying past applicants.
Village Manager John Sweeney said those applications are still on the record, adding that there's potential to re-hire an individual who was previously employed.
"The individual still qualifies under civil service, and there's potential to bring that person back," he said.
