This week was host to season openers for all local teams. The Lady Orange won two league games and asserted themselves as one of the tougher local competitors. Johnsburg topped Indian Lake-Long Lake in baseball, but they later lost to Minerva-Newcomb after a big fifth inning for the Mountaineers. The Lady Jags struggled this week and lost to Minerva-Newcomb in their home at Minerva on Tuesday.

JOHNSBURG - The Jaguars opened their season with a win over league rival Indian Lake-Long Lake on Monday after being down by one in the bottom of the seventh and scoring a run to put the game into extra innings.
Chris Scott scored on a wild pitch to give Johnsburg the win in the eighth.
Lance Baker picked up the win after pitching 2 1/3 innings of relief and he was preceded by Kevin Connor's 10 strikeouts in his six innings.
Scott had two hits, while fellow Jaguar Travis Plansker brought home a single, a double and an RBI.
Indian Lake-Long Lake's Ben Black had seven strikeouts and pitched the full game with no relief.
Catcher Jordan Wallace had a double and home run for three RBIs, while Matt Rusch tallied another homer for the Orange.
MINERVA - Johnsburg led the Mountaineers 1-0 through the fourth inning on Tuesday in league play. The game was quiet until Minerva-Newcomb powered in all 10 of its runs in the fifth inning for the win.
Morgan Winslow hit two singles for two runs apiece and Tatsuki Miyozato tallied a double.
Miyozato also struck out 13 Jaguar batters over six innings.
Branden Tokarz and Brandon Poulton managed one single each for the Mountaineers.
Johnsburg boasted a triple play late in the sixth inning.
LAKE LUZERNE - The Jaguars opened their season with a loss on April 13. Amber Allen doubled and Marissa McFarlane got on base five times as Hadley-Luzerne defeated Johnsburg.
Stacey Petteys and Sara Gangaware combined on a four-hitter for the Eagles and brought them to 2-0.
Cortina Greene had two singles for the Jaguars.

INDIAN LAKE - Chelsea Preston went three for five with a double as Lake Placid topped Indian Lake-Long Lake on April 14.
Carli Reynolds had three hits for the Orange, while Murphy Farrell, Emma Gray and Sierra Olbert each recorded two hits.

JOHNSBURG - Kaylie Miller struck out 10 batters for the Orange as they topped the Jaguars on April 15. She went 4 for 5 at the plate.
Murphy Farrell tallied a home run, Sierra Olbert recorded a double and a single, and Carli Reynolds added two singles in the win for the Orange.
Kelly Blackhurst, Sierra Galusha and Nicole Wardwell had two hits apiece for the Jaguars.
Indian Lake-Long Lake 13
WELLS - Kaylie Miller led Indian Lake-Long Lake from both the mound and the plate to give the Orange a win over Wells on Tuesday.
Miller went 4 for 4 with a triple and struck out nine batters to earn the pitching win.
Murphy Farrell went 2 for 3 for the Orange and Allison Pine was 2 for 4.
For Wells, Kayla Page went 3 for 4, and Lizzie Perkins, Jasmine Sherman, Sam Bartholf each went for 2 for 4. Olivia Hinds tripled.
MINERVA - Larissa Roy had two doubles and a single to help lead the Mountaineers to a season-opening win on Tuesday over Johnsburg.
Emma Parsonson added two singles, while Laura Tokarz struck out nine Jaguar batters form the mound.
Kelly Blackhurst recorded two singles for the Jaguars.
