Elizabethtown WIC office, Thursday, May 7 and May 21 from 1-7 p.m. The Lake Placid Youth Center, Tuesday, May 5 and May 26 from 2-6 p.m. The Port Henry Knights of Columbus, Thursday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Schroon Lake Health Center, Wednesday, May 13 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Keeseville Methodist Church, Thursday, May 28 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Saranac Lake Town Hall, Tuesday, May 19 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The AuSable Forks Ambulance Building, Wednesday, May 6 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Wilmington Town Hall, Wednesday, May 27 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
WIC will now be offering whole grain breads, rice and tofu as well as baby foods including vegetables, fruits and meats in addition to milk, cheese, eggs, juice and peanut butter to pregnant and breastfeeding women and children. WIC also provides vegetables and fruits to participants older than one year. WIC encourages breastfeeding but for those infants who are not breatfed, infant formula is provided. A nurse and nutritionist are on-site to provide counseling, assessment, education and referrals.
Income guidelines have increased. Monthly gross income eligibility for a family of four must be less than $3,400. For each additional family member, add $577. For more information and/or appointment, call 873-3560.
