ELIZABETHTOWN-WICclinics will be held during the month of July at the following locations.
In Elizabethtown, clinics will be held at WIC Office on July 21 from noon to 7 p.m. and on July 1, 7, 8, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In Lake Placid, clinics will be held at the Youth Center on July 5 and 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on July 26 from 2-6 p.m.
In Ticonderoga, clinics will be held at the Methodist Church July 11, 18, and 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Moriah, a clinic will be held at the firehouse on July 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In AuSable Forks, a clinic will be held at the ambulance building on July 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Port Henry, a clinic will be held at the Knights of Columbus on July 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Keeseville, a clinic will be held at the Methodist Church on July 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Farmers market checks are now available. WIC now offers whole grain breads, tortillas, brown rice, tofu, milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice and peanut butter to pregnant and breastfeeding women and children. WIC also provides vegetables and fruits to participants over one year old WIC encourages breastfeeding but for those infants who are not breastfed, infant formula is provided. Baby foods including vegetables, fruits, and meats are provided to infants over six months old.
A nurse, nutritionist and breastfeeding peer counselor are available to provide counseling, assessment, education and referrals.
