Schroon 7, Crown Point 2
Schroon Lake downed Crown Point, 7-2, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 2.
The game was deadlocked, 2-2, when the Wildcats exploded for five runs in the home sixth inning to secure the win. Base knocks by Lance Paradis, Matt Savarie and Jimmy Bowen combined with two walks and two Crown Point errors in the frame.
Bowen had two hits to pace the Schroon offense.
Savarie was the winning hurler, allowing four hits and fanned seven in going the distance.
Jaice Spring drove home both Crown Point runs with a second-inning hit.
Nate Tabor took the mound loss, allowing five hits and striking out 13.
Beekmantown 2, Ticonderoga 1
Beekmantown edged Ticonderoga, 2-1, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 2.
Tanner Purkey was the tough-luck loser for Ti, scattering four hits. He didn't allow an earned run as the Sentinels committed four errors behind him.
Ti got its run in the sixth when Bobby Grey plated Miles Austin with a single.
Schroon 4, Chazy 3
Jeff Armstrong's walk-off single gave Schroon lake a 4-3 win against Chazy in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 5.
Tied 3-3, Anthony Vanderwalker drew a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh for Schroon. He stole second and Armstrong laced his hit to center to score the winning run.
Vanderwalker had two knocks in the contest.
Matt Savarie got the win, working a scoreless inning in relief. Starter Lance Paradis went six inning, fanning seven.
Schroon 11, ELCS0
Jeffrey Armstrong and Anthony Vanderwalker combined to fire a no-hitter as Schroon Lake topped Elizabethtown-Lewis, 11-0, in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball action May 6.
Armstrong worked five innings, striking out 10. Vanderwalker worked the final frames, fanning one.
Armstrong and Vanderwalker were also offensive stars. Armstrong had two hits and two runs batted in, while Vanderwalker added a double and three RBI.
Saranac 14, Moriah 2
Saranac downed Moriah, 14-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 6.
The Vikings jumped to a 2-0 lead on a home run by Ryan Mascarenas and a double by Tim Breeyear, but Saranac rallied to win.
Mascarenas took the pitching loss.
Chazy 9, Schroon 2
Chazy beat Schroon Lake, 9-2, in a non-league baseball game played at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown May 7.
Josh Peete allowed just one hit after the first inning to lead Chazy. Kaleb Snide and John Tregan each had two hits for the winners.
Anthony Vanderwalker had a pair of hits for Schroon.
Ticonderoga 12, Beekmantown 5
Ticonderoga thrashed Beekmantown, 12-5, in a non-league baseball game played at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown May 7.
Tanner Purkey paced the Sentinels, hurling five innings for the mound win and driving home four runs at the plate.
Dan Morrison ripped a home run and also had four RBI for the winners.
