WINOOSKI On April 11, shortly after midnight the Winooski Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 5 Abenaki Way. Multiple area agencies also responded to assist with the extensive suppressive efforts. Firefighters were able to save two adjacent buildings which had been occupied at the time of the fire. The main fire was isolated to a currently vacant, multi unit apartment building. This building was considered a total loss and is valued at over $200,000. There were no injuries reported as a result of this fire. Chief Bergeron of the Winooski Fire Department made a request for an investigation into the origin and cause of this fire. Investigators from the Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit and the Division of Fire Safety responded to assist with the investigation. Investigators have teamed up with the Winooski Fire Department and Detectives from the Winooski Police Department. Investigation at the scene revealed the fire was an intentionally set fire On April 15, police announced the arrest of Julie Bundy, age 42, of Winooski. Bundy was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Center with her bail set at $10,000. She iwas arraigned in Vermont District Court in Burlington on April 16. The April 11 fire investigation is on going and Winooski Police Department officials are asking anyone that has video and or photographs of the fire to forward a copy to Det. Jason Nokes. Police are also looking for witnesses that have information concerning the fire or suspect to contact detectives of the WPD. Detectives are also interested in interviewing anyone that may have been in the house prior to the fire and anyone that may have seen Bundy at McKees Pub or in the area of 5 Abenaki Way prior to, during, or after the fire.
