The vehicle of Cadyville resident Penny S. Allen lays outside the garage she crashed into during the early hours of Sept. 4.
Cadyville resident Penny S. Allen was arrested Sept. 4 and charged with driving while intoxicated after she careened across a lawn and into a garage off Route 3 shortly after 3 a.m., injuring herself and damaging property and her vehicle.
According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, it was determined by officers that Allen was traveling at a speed greater then reasonable and prudent which caused her to cross the center line and lose control.
The vehicle, a 2003 Cevrolet, then slid out of control over a residential lawn, through a garden plot, struck a two car detached garage, as well as two riding lawn mowers and a garden tiller. All objects and vehicles involved sustained heavy damage.
Allen was transported to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital with minor injuries and was being treated and evaluated. The Sheriffs Department also received assistance from the New York State Police.
The defendant was processed and released. In addition to Driving While Intoxicated, Allen was charged with failure to keep right, failure to stay in lane and speed greater then reasonable and prudent.
She was scheduled to appear in the Town of Saranac Court on Sept. 12.
