LAKE PLACID-Many of the top high school and youth wrestlers in the land will be back in Lake Placid on Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22, competing in the Pop&Flo National Duals presented by Brute-Adidas.
This marks the second year Lake Placid Olympic Center has played host to the Duals Nationals.
Thirty-two teams will vie for tournament titles. Each team will compete in a minimum of five duals no matter where they lose within the tournament. All 32 teams will begin in the championship bracket. The 16 teams that lose in the first round will move on to their own bracket and compete for a separate tournament title. The squads that fall in the second round will also move on to a separate bracket where they will continue their quest for a tournament crown. In the end, there will be four; eight-team brackets and 32 teams will wrestle it out for their respective Pop&Flo championship crowns.
Each high school team can feature up to 15 wrestlers and four alternates, while each youth program can carry 15 wrestlers and two alternates on their roster. A high school bout will feature three periods of two-minutes, 1:30 and 1:30, while a youth bout will consist of three, 1:30 periods.
Saturday's action is from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., while on Sunday, these athletes will compete from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Action will take place in the 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena and USA Rink. Admission is $15 each day.
