Arrested for heroin selling in the Rutland area: Kati McPhee
Young women are part of the sad new face of drug crime in Vermont. In recent months, a number of woemn have been linked to illegal drug use and drug sales. For example, on Sept. 28 the Vermont Drug Task Force arrested Jewel Hurt, 35. of Rutland, and Kati McPhee, 27, of Rutland, for selling heroin in the Rutland area.
These arrests stem from an on-going investigation by the Southern Vermont Drug Task Force. Hurt was arrested without incident after a motor vehicle stop and was transported to the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $150,000 bail.
Hurt was arrested on three counts of sale of heroin and one count of possession of heroin. Hurt is also on parole for other drug related charges. Hurt was arraigned on Sept. 29. His next scheduled court date is on Oct. 7 in Rutland Criminal Court at 3 p.m.
McPhee was arrested on three counts of the sale of heroin and violation of conditions of release. McPhee was on state ordered conditions of release at the time of her arrest, stemming from a previous heroin trafficking charge where she was found in possession of 179 bags of heroin and a felony amount of cocaine.
McPhee was arrested without incident and is being lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $150,000 bail. McPhee was arraigned on Sept. 29. Her next scheduled court date is on Oct. 7 in Rutland Criminal Court at 3 p.m.
The Vermont Attorney General’s Office will be prosecuting both Hurt and McPhee.
