GLENS FALLS - The Charles Wood Theater is again offering an opportunity for talented high school students from throughout the region to be showcased May 9 in a performance "Rising Stars at the Wood"at the Wood Theater's annual Gala fundraiser.
Talented youths will be auditioned by a committee of local theater directors and the show is to be directed by Glens Falls Community Theatre veteran Pamela Granger. Up to 12 performers will be chosen.
Auditions will be held April 7 and 8 at the Wood Theater. Auditioning students, either vocalists or solo jazz instrumentalists, should prepare two songs in any genre that showcase their talents. Performers are encouraged to perform the pieces with appropriate gestures or choreography. Students may bring their own accompanist, or have music available to Granger in advance. Auditions will be private. The chosen performers will be required to attend a full rehearsal schedule during late April and early May.
The performance will give the participating teenagers a chance to perform with a combo in a cabaret-style in front of a large audience.
