PERU Anyone looking for a beautiful addition to their home or perhaps an ideal gift might take a few moments to stop by the North Country Potters Guild Show at the Peru Free Library. The show, which saw a highly attended opening Nov. 30, features the works of several area potters as well as 20 photographs by Mooers artist Bobby Ziemba. The artisans with works on display include Jay Price, Erin Pennington, Bill Colquhoun, Sarah Sabourin, Erik Wilson, Jackie Sabourin, Mike Loughan, Kim Mazur, Sue Young, Terrance Young, May Lou Reid, Lee Kazanas and Cheri Cross. Prices range from a $3 bowl to a $450 stoneware and glass piece. Most items are in the $12 to $30 price range. This is Bobby Ziembas first solo photography show though hes been practicing his art for more than 35 years. In May, Mr. Ziemba graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a degree in studio art. His photographs feature portrait and nature photography, with many of his works reflecting his career as a New York State forestry professional. I try for an intimate look at nature in my work rather than a simple landscape, said Mr. Ziemba. He added his intent is to study the intimate relationship between nature and man and the beauty of the world around us. The guild show will continue through December. The Peru Free Library, located on North Main Street, is open Tuesdays though Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The North County Potters Guild has been active for more than five years. They have a Web site under construction at www.northcountrypottersguild.com .
