Hard to believe, but here we are half way through October with those three fall holidays fast approaching us. Another big fall event is the upcoming elections and those campaign signs do seem to pop up every where around in communities. Also this is the time of year that marathons are scheduled. Happy to announce that our School Supt. Steve Broadwell participated in his 6th Marathon in Hartford, Conn. This is a 26.2 mile run and he did it in 4 hrs 16 min. Congratulations and very impressive accomplishment. School activities are in full fall swing as they are presenting their Senior Play this next week, titled American Idle with Fran Lee and Gail MacDougal as the adult directors. Also voters are urged to come out to vote on the referendum this next Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 12 to 8. My sister Paula Calkins and I recently spent a week in Virginia visiting relatives. While there we visited the Biltmore Mansion and the massive grounds. this was built in 1895 by George Vanderbilt with no expense spared. This had all the conveniences one could possibly offer his guest as they lived in luxury. We also drove through much of the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park areas. The natural beauty had breath taking views for one to take in. This was a trip we will long remember. Our sympathy is extended to the families of Richard Passino and Mary West, both passed away this past week. Birthday Greeting Gert Grady 10/24, Vincent Ferris 10/25, Loretta Meinsen 10/25, Joe Bruno 10/26.
