MORIAH-A battle royal is coming to Moriah.
"The War Indoors" will be presented Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Moriah fire house on Tarbell Hill Road by a group of dedicated Moriah wrestling fans. Admission will be a donation to the Moriah Food pantry, either money or a non-perishable food item.
The five-match show will feature Michael Gaddor, Mathew Gaddor, Justin Gaddor, Cole Gaddor, Nathan Miron, Andrew Breeyear, Justin Cutting, Bill Welch and Bob Carr Jr. Chris Larmore will be the referee.
"The War Indoors" is patterned after television's pro wrestling.
"We've been doing it for the last 10 years," explained Mike Gaddor. "We were all in drama club in high school and love acting - and we love pro wrestling. It's just a lot of fun."
While the group has been "wrestling" for a decade, it made its public debut last fall at a cystic fibrosis benefit held at the Grover Hills Deli. A ring was set up in the parking lot and more than 100 people turned out for the free show. More than $700 was donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
This time the show will benefit the local food pantry.
"When we decided upon another show, we thought it would be a good idea to try for another fundraiser," said Cara DeZalia, the event manager. "Knowing that the winter season is a particular time of year where families struggle the most financially, we made a group decision on a fundraiser to support and raise money for the local food pantry. And after contacting both the fire department and Sue Morse with the local food pantry we knew it was the right move to make."
Concessions will be sold during the show with all proceeds going to the Moriah Food Pantry.
"The War Indoors" will pit Skeletron (aka Michael Gaddor) against The Tiger (Justin Gaddor; Bob Wire (Carr) against Crusher Bigelow (Welch); a tag team championship match between The Nova Brothers (Cole Gaddor and Cutting); Jacked Vegas (Mathew Gaddor) against Justin Destructible (Breeyear); and a match to determine the world's top contender between Scrap Iron (Justin Gaddor) and Natron (Miron).
There will also be special appearances by Berracuda (Michael Gaddor), who currently holds the world title, Shooter Young (Michael Gaddor), Duke Young (Justin Gaddor), Supernova (Cole Gaddor), The Cricket (Nathan Miron) and Casanova (Cutting) .
"We love the response and support we get from the local communities and we enjoy giving back to the community through our shows," DeZalia said.
The Gaddor boys and their friends have long been interested in acting. Mike estimates they have made more than 75 videos and placed them on YouTube.
The group has taken its wrestling show to a few private parties, but the Grover Hills Deli benefit was its first public performance.
