ELIZABETHTOWN — New York State Police were called to an incident at the third hole on the Cobble Hill Golf Course in Elizabethtown shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 when three golfers reported finding a male body.
The Valley News arrived at 2:27 p.m. Troopers were visible from the shoulder of Route 9N. One picked up what appeared to be a shotgun from a thicket of pine trees, ejected a shell and walked out of view.
On the eastbound lane, a blue two-door Ford Focus, draped in yellow police tape, was being prepped for removal by a local towing company.
At 2:47 p.m, a state trooper and plain clothes personnel lifted the remains — clad in blue jeans and tennis shoes — into a black bag and loaded it into a white coroner’s van.
State police declined to comment at the scene, referring inquiries to state police spokesperson Trooper Jennifer Fleishman. She could not be reached by the time this story went to press.
Golfers elsewhere on the course appeared to be unaware of the incident and vehicular traffic was not interrupted.
