The next Middlebury Arts Walk event is at the downtown Marble Works Aug. 12, and features musician Patty Doyle.
The young performer is currently competing in the “Are You the Next Teen Superstar?” contest. She will play her acoustic music at the Stone Leaf Teahouse in the Marble Works. Doyle and her family live in northern New Jersey with Middlebury acting as a refuge during the summer months.
Doyle’s original acoustic songs deliver morsels of insight into the joys and dreams, fears and worries of today’s youth.
Also featured this month is Mahlon Teachout, a sixth-generation Vermonter, who attended Ringling Art School in Florida in the early 1960s. He has been painting oil landscapes for 50 years. Mahlon creates rural Vermont scenes in a style that is uniquely his own.
Kumon Math and Reading Center, located at 4 Frog Hollow Alley, will feature the art of Middlebury’s own Mike Mayone. Mayone paints images that reflect his passion for realism, details and this magnificent corner of the world we simply call “home.”
Other highlights of Arts Walk in August include—
• Photographs by Dorothea Langevin at 51 Main at the Bridge.
• Wayne Michaud, Green Mountain Pet Portraits, at Jackson’s along the Middlebury River.
• Paintings and calligraphy by Middlebury’s resident Chinese artist, Yanglei Zhang, at Falling Water School of Tai Chi Chuan, 7 Frog Hollow Alley.
