CROWN POINT - Youth will be served on the Crown Point boys soccer team this fall.
"It is a very young team this year with only two seniors and 10 sophomores along with four juniors," Coach Don Bishop said. "Fortunately, all my young defenders got experience starting at one time or another last season and our senior goalie provides extra leadership for the team."
Max Mesones is the senior goalie. He saw most of the action in the Panther net a year ago, posting 183 saves as the club posted a 4-7 record.
Crown Point boasts a veteran defense with Caelin Titus, the other senior on the team, joining Tanner Macey, Jon Spaulding, Mike Gould and Mike DuShane. All played in 2009.
"Hopefully by playing solid defense we can keep ourselves in games and let our young offense score," Bishop said.
Nathan Tabor, who had three goals and three assists a year ago, returns at midfield along with Caleb McGuinness. They're joined by rookies Don Groshans, Duke Mildon and Kyle Hunsdon.
Gabe Macey is the only returning forward. He tallied two goals and had an assist in 2009.
New to the front line are Mike Enman, Bret Gudikunst, Jeff Clarke and Nick Vezzi.
The crew will be looking to replace Will Glebus, Tony Rodriguez and Juan Mosquera, who graduated and took 20 goals and 12 assists with them.
"We'll look to Tabor, Macey and Enman to help provide some scoring punch," Bishop said.
