It was great to see Front Street active again. Both Little Italy Restaurant and St. Joseph’s Addiction Counseling have opened to join Kingsland Square Bistro and Block Gallery all on Front Street. Also joining them on Wednesdays from nine until one in the afternoon will be the Farmer’s Market right behind the businesses by the AuSable River.
Chris Maron, Executive Director of the Champlain Area Trails, sent me an email concerning the upcoming Wilderness First Aid Class they are hosting on Saturday June 29 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Essex Fire Department. Anyone can participate. As Maron reports, “CATS wants people to be prepared while enjoying the outdoors.” Call 962-2287 or email email@example.com to register.

This will include free admission to the Museum. Call 834-5180 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also on the first and third Fridays of the month don’t forget the free family fun movie at the Elk’s lodge, Snacks can be purchased starting at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will start once it is dark enough.
I’ve made a couple of recent trips around Wickham Marsh. The lily pads are growing nicely and the whole preservation is gorgeous and very relaxing. We managed to see one of the ospreys hunting as well as a pheasant walking across the road with six or seven little puff balls of babies. We also espied three turtles sunning themselves on fallen logs near the edge of the marsh. Every trip brings another great sighting of some beautiful creature making the Marsh very much worth repeat visits. It was a shame to see some garbage strewn around the edge of the road and request people to pick up after themselves when driving around the preservation maintaining its natural beauty. Enjoy!
