To the Editor:
I am pleased to announce that New York Farm Bureau has recently named Senator Betty Little to our annual “Circle of Friends” list. This legislative award is granted based upon her record of legislative support for New York agriculture and the Farm Bureau. New York Farm Bureau is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse elected officials or political candidates.
Senator Little joins a number of other legislators from both sides of the aisle in the Senate and Assembly who have a superior voting record on issues of concern to New York farmers during the 2013 state legislative session. Each member of the Farm Bureau “Circle of Friends” has demonstrated an understanding of the important topics affecting farmers and the considerable impact agriculture has on our economy and quality of life in every region of the state.
New York Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm advocacy organization, works closely with the legislature to strengthen and enhance agriculture in New York State. We have made significant gains over the past year, including the passage of the 2% agricultural assessment cap to rein in rising property taxes, and this would not have been possible without significant support from key legislators, such as Senator Little. With her continued leadership, agriculture will remain one of New York’s most important economic engines.
We are pleased to provide the “Circle of Friends” designation to Senator Little to thank her for her hard work on behalf of farmers in the North Country and across New York State.
Dean Norton, President
New York Farm Bureau
