The Champlain Area Trials Photo Contest is ready for you to vote on the photo and caption entries to choose the “People’s Choice” award winner. The finalists have been posted on the CATS website champlainareatrails.com for you to place your vote in three different categories. The winners will be announced in early Januar, first place in each category is $100. Professor Paul Martin Lester, award winning journalist and communications professor will be judging the other contest entries, first place is $150.

Planning ahead for the Christmas Holiday, the Lewis Congregational Church in Lewis will be holding a Christmas Eve service, with Pastor Shaw presiding. Spiritual Christmas music will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the service at 7 p.m.
Later in the evening, the Church of the Good Shepherd will be holding a candle light Christmas Eve service at 11 p.m. and a Christmas Day service at Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Father David Sullivan presiding at both services. All these services are open to anyone for the Christmas observance.
Just a reminder, if you haven’t completed your STAR (School Tax Assessment Reduction) Exemption yet, you have until Dec. 31 to file it. You can register online at tax.ny.gov or call 457-2036 to file by phone. Town Assessor, Dave Wainwright will available to help by calling the town hall at 873-6555. This does not include those senior citizens who have “Enhanced STAR”.
If you have some spare time before school closes for the holidays, stop in at ELCS to view the new 22 panel landscape mural that Mrs. Crowningshield’s advanced art classes have created. The two art classes have worked individually and together to bring this one-of-a-kind masterpiece to the halls of the school for all to appreciate.
The Elizabethtown Social Center will be closed Monday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Dec. 25.
