To the Valley News:
Dan Connell is running for re-election as Westport Town Supervisor. This is very good news to me and I am sure to many other Westport citizens as well.
Dan has a special talent that is much needed in this area of New York State that is inclined to be overlooked by thhe urban-oriented moguls in Albany. He has a tenacity and a personality that have enabled him to get the attention and eventually the cooperation of such official entities as the APA, the DEC, the Comptroller, the Secretary of State for Grants (presently three), the Dept of Health, to name a few, and as a result Westport and Wadhams have new water and sewer facilities that are as dependable, safe and efficient as any of their capacity in the State with one of the lowest tax rates in Essex County.
Westport’s sewer plant procedures effluent below State phosphorous levels to the extent that the plant capacity is being legally increased by 50,000 gallons per day. Since startup, it has had zero citations for effluent problems. This kind of performance that gets the attention of those who might want to locate their homes or businesses in our Town. I myself worked on Lake Champlain for twenty two years. I think I appreciate the importance of a clean, healthy Lake to the economic future of us all. Shirley and I are delighted to have retired to Westport in 1998.
Westport still has certain problems ahead. The Fire House and DPW garage will soon need to be replaced. Everyone is aware of the difficulties and tensions that have been generated. But I truly believe the job can be done by the team presently in place which has worked over 10 years for a proper solution.
That Team should be led by Dan Connell! Vote Connel for Westport Supervisor!
