To the editor:
Whether you have been every year for the last five years or if this is going to be your first year you need to come and check out the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Grass Drag and Mud Bog fundraiser Sept. 17.
Located at 4325 Mountain Rd. in Bristol, spectators come from all over the state and competitors come from as far away as Maine for the event.
This event helps the department raise needed funds to aid in providing not only the Monkton community but the neighboring towns with mutual aid. Last year's event help the department acquire a Zodiac boat for water rescue on Monkton Pond, Bristol Pond, Lake Iroquois, Otter Creek, and assisting the U.S. Coast Guard on Lake Champlain.
As a thank you to the business community, the MVFD offers free vendor space to promote their businesses as well.
So anyone interested in competing or vendor spaces please call Chief David Layn at 802-453-2286.
Anyone interested in attending please bring your appetite and your family because the gates open at 6 a.m. and races start at 10 a.m.
