To the Valley News:
I would like to thank everyone for all the many resources and help that has been and still is being offered to our family. Your names would fill a phone book. We would like to thank the Whallonsburg Fire Department for knocking at our door at 11:45 p.m. to evacuate us. We all got out reluctantly but safely. Thank you to FEMA, EOC, American Red Cross and Essex Fire Departments, Renew, Essex Town Office, NYSEG and The Whallonsburg Civic Association. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire communities of Essex and Whallonsburg for their complete devotion to taking care of our needs from Shirley La Forest’s organized meals, through the Essex churches, to the cleaning up assistance from the Masons and other community helpers. Thank you to all the people who prepared those meals. I would love to have some of those recipes.
Words of gratitude are not enough. Thank you Marshall Crowningshield, Eugene Benway, Travis Crandall, Eric Kilgren and Zach for lifting the heavy stuff. Thank you to my mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aunt Jayne and Uncle Rick for those nice hot showers and warm food.
Thanks to Uncle Lyman and Aunt Faye for helping us move and taking pictures. A huge thank you goes out to two of my very dear friends Nancy Dougal and Joe and Misty and Dave Murcray for all your support, patience, keeping me on track, your muscle, sweat and my tears. I love you. Thanks Dad and Betty for a little comic relief when I needed it. Another big thank you to the entire Coonrod family for letting us stay in their parent’s house while we find somewhere else to stay. Thank you Whallonsburg Civic Association for the wonderful spaghetti dinner and dancing afterwards.
If I missed someone I apologize and will say thank you when I see you. Although we pretty much lost everything I cannot express the overwhelming appreciation and joy I have for this great community and all I can say is thank you all!!!
