Chamber seeks nominations
In an effort to bring honor those who’ve made substantial contributions to the local community this past year, the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce is now seeking nominations for its Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year awards for 2013.
Citizens who are aware of a business or local resident who has accomplished something noteworthy to benefit the town of Warrensburg in 2012 are urged to contact the chamber and make a nomination, providing all the details.

Nominations must be received by the Chamber before April 1 to be considered.
A recognition dinner is held annually, normally in May, to honor the award recipients.
Wbg. Elementary Pre-K sign-up
Those families who have a child who will be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2013 and are interested in having them participate in the Warrensburg Elementary School Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2013-14 school year, are urged to contact the Warrensburg Elementary School office at 623-9747 for registration information.
Reception set for photographer
Willows Bistro will be hosting a reception 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 11 for photographer Bob McDermott of Chestertown to celebrate the opening of an exhibit of his work.
McDermott’s photographs, often whimsical, are mainly drawn from his travels.
“If you are a traveler, either an adventurous one or of the armchair variety, you are sure to find these photographs beguiling,” a Willows publicist said this week.
Wine and light refreshments will be available. The exhibit is to continue through February. Willows Bistro is located at 3749 Main St. in Warrensburg.
Chamber open house set
The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce is holding an open house from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday Jan. 27 at the new Chamber office, 3728 Main St. Warrensburg, Plans call for a guest speaker to talk about the economic development prospects for Warrensburg. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend.
Special days recognized

Society to elect officers
The Warrensburgh Historical Society’s annual meeting of members and election of officers will be held Thursday Feb. 7 at Lizzie Keays Restaurant.
A review of the year's activities and committee reports are to be heard.
Also, nominees for six seats on the Society’s Board of Directors will be voted on. Coffee, tea and homemade desserts will be provided. Members wishing to dine prior to the meeting are encouraged to arrive at the restaurant by 5:30 pm. Reservations should be made in advance by calling the restaurant at 504-4043.
The Warrensburg Museum of Local History, normally open on the first Thursday of the month, will be closed Feb. 7 due to the meeting.
The exhibit "Our Toys" at the Warrensburgh Museum of Local History will end Wednesday, Jan. 16. More than 100 toys and games — spanning more than 100 years — are on display, and must be returned to their owners following that date. The museum is open Sundays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Admission is free. Entrance to the museum and parking are at the rear of the building, 3754 Main St.
