Two lovely weekend days just in time to enjoy some great area events. On Friday evening the place to be was in Essex, the College For Every Student held an open house in their new quarters located behind the Essex Post Office. This is a beautiful and most useful building and such a great organization to have their headquarters here locally. This event was followed by one of the Essex Community Concerts featuring the “Goff Brothers”. Jonathan, Joseph, Matthew, Mitchell are such talented musicians and they treated us to a concert fit for Kings & Queens. They are spectacular in playing their instruments and still very young. Then Saturday featured the local Town Wide Yard Sales with sales featured on most of our streets.
The big event was the Grand Open House at the new Champlain Valley Senior Community; a total reuse of an old building into a beautiful and most useful new building. Large crowds of the public came out to witness the new space to offer a very caring way of life for our senior citizens. If you were unable to get there this past weekend, they would welcome giving interested persons a tour anytime. New tenants move in this week.
This weekend is going to be just as busy with the Christian Women’s Luncheon held at the Essex Methodist Church on June 19. Local Graduation at our Willsboro Central School on Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m.. Then on June 22, The Willsboro School Alumni Banquet to be held at V.F.W. in Keeseville. The Paine Memorial Library Art Exhibits daily. The Heritage Museum will open this weekend with their summer exhibits. A great lecture at the 1812 Homestead on June 22 at 1 p.m. featuring Professor Willard Sterne Randall talking on “Gentleman Gen. John Burgoyne at the River Boquet in 1777.” Don’t forget the Summer Vacation Bible School the week of June 24 to June 28 held at the Willsboro Methodist Church each day from 9 a.m. to noon. More to do than most of us can take in.
Happy Birthday to: Karin Buck June 28, Ken Stafford June 28, Kristen Young June 29, Ann Marcotte June 29. Happy Anniversary to Nancy & Sherman Randall June 28.
