Holiday's are over and for most of us the decorations are put away for another year. It is now time to make plans for what we will dedicate our time to in the coming year. I am hopeful that we will take to heart and practice the message shared after the death of the children in Connecticut, to press forward to do good deeds for the people around us. This could help to make it a better world for us all. I was so pleased that after my column last week where I spoke of the big downtown tree not lite for the holiday and hoped some thing could be done for next year. A very kind person Jeff Prindle called me and offered to assist in this project for next season; many thanks and I am working on getting this to happen. This week I learned of another large community problem that we need to be serious about, that of what should be done with the dam in the Boquet River. I think we all have been aware that this has needed to be addressed for some time, but was always put on the back burner. There was a well attended meeting this past week to lay out some concrete plans to address what it would mean for us to study both sides of this issue of whether we take it out or repair. Those in attendance feel it truly needs to be studied and the findings then presented to us the public.
I heard from Jada & Dean Reynolds that they had just taken their son Jacob to the air port as he is being deployed to Afghanistan for the second time in three years. He is a Sargent in the Vermont Air Guard. May we keep him in our prayers for a safe deployment and return.
A wonderful woman in our community, Ida Davis Atkinson will turn 101 on Jan.28. I worked with Ida at the Sportsman's Diner when I was a young person and I just found her to be a great person, I just loved her Lemon Meringue Pie. Happy Birthday.
A recent article shared the good news that the DeNeales had made some of their land available to the CATS group for them to expand the nature trails open to the public.
