May 26, 1932 — Aug. 10, 2011 Francis “Nick/Sonny” Rossini, 79, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011 at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Liberty, New York. He was born in Winooski, Vermont and grew up in Witherbee, New York. “Nick” attended Mineville High School and worked in the iron ore mines before joining the United States Navy where he served from Dec. 7, 1955 to Sept. 14, 1957, receiving an honorable discharge. He later married the love of his life, Mary Aguirre. The devoted couple spent most of their married life in Queens, later retiring to Liberty, New York to their “home in the country” which they had spent many hours lovingly restoring. “Nick” remained in this home for several years after Mary’s passing, until moving into the Sullivan County Nursing Home. Along with his wife, Mary, “Nick” was predeceased by his mother, Josephine Vartuli Rossini, father Renato Rossini, sister Antoinette Rothkugel, and his brother Irving “Junior” Boyea, as well as brother-in-law Larry Aguirre and sister-in-law Margie Aguirre. He is survived by his sister Ann Marie Tur, brother-in-law Robert Tur, brother-in-law Mario Aguirre, and sister-in-law Maureen Aguirre, along with nephews Vincent Tur (wife Sue and daughter Lauren), Aaron Tur, Andrew, Larry, Jimmy and Danny Aguirre; and nieces Brandi Boyea Boyle (husband William and daughters) and Valeri Aguirre. “Nick” also leaves behind his close friends and neighbors, Fay and Mike Cerullo, and his dear friend, Jane Burcrooff. A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter’s Church in Liberty, New York. Internment is in the Sullivan County Veterans’ Cemetery in Liberty.
