The AuSable Valley Patriots 2013 boys varsity soccer season came to an end Oct. 22 at the hands of Plattsburgh High.
AVCS (0-16-0), the sixth seed in the Section VII/Class B tournament, suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Hornets, but were able to make several plays that showed how much they were able to improve through the season according to head coach Bob Hamilton.
“I thought that we played great at times,” Hamilton said. “Plattsburgh’s team speed is good and they are very skilled and played a good game against us tonight.”
Hamilton said that he was pleased with the play of his trio of seniors including Austin Facteau, who returned for the sectional game after being injured during the last part of the regular season.
“Austin had not played in two weeks but wanted to get out there for this game and he played well,” Hamilton said. “Jimmy Provost was amazing in goal tonight and he has been great for us all season, his first playing the position. I also can’t say enough about Elias Smith. He has been a great asset for our team.”
Hamilton said he has also seen a lot of progress from the underclassmen.
“It has been good to watch the kids build on what they have,” he said.
