Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ won the Lake Placid Convention and Visitors Bureau 1.45m Open Jump-off Wednesday at the 35th annual I Love New York Horse Show, Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC.
Riding Umberto, Chapot was the second of 21 entries to try the 12-jump first-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds and she was the first of seven to turn in a fault-free ride. She then rode fault-free again over the eight-jump, jump-off course finishing in 44.163 seconds.
None of the remaining entries could catch Chapot with the closest effort coming from Debbie Stephens of Palmetto, FL who had the only other fault-free ride in the jump-off. However, Stephens's time of 45.749 seconds on Swagger left her shy of Chapot's time and in second place.
Chapot also took top honors Wednesday in the 1.35m Janney Montgomery Scott LLC Jump-off Class, topping a field of 46 horses on Carpe Diem.
Other winners on Wednesday included Charlotte Jacobs on Promised Land in the Beacon Hill Farm High Junior Jumper Class and Wesley Newlands on Lapacco in the Deeridge Farms High Amateur-Owner Jumper Class.
