In Western Athletic Conference boys soccer action, Mekeel Christian Academy held on for a 2-1 victory over Fort Plain Friday at Maalwyck Park in Glenville.
Anders Trestik scored in the 12th minute, and Tai Aderounmu added a goal in the 30th minute for the Lions (6-2). Fort Plain tallied in the 32nd minute, but MCA kept the offensive pressure up in the second half to preserve the victory.
Niskayuna served its way to a 3-0 sweep of Shaker in Friday's Suburban Council girls volleyball match in Latham.
The Silver Warriors (4-5) recorded 16 service aces to defeat the Blue Bison 25-12, 25-17 and 25-20.
Allie Legere and Samantha Atchinson each had five aces to lead Niskayuna. Legere also had seven kills and four digs, while Atchinson contributed four kills and 24 digs.
Heather Cook chipped in with seven blocks, four aces, four digs and two kills, and Samantha Mills added 14 digs and two aces for the Silver Warriors.
Mackenzie Rowland had eight kills and three blocks for Shaker (3-6). Lauren Woods recorded seven kills, and Olivia Bruni added 10 digs.
