The Niskayuna girls soccer team rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to edge Shaker 2-1 in Wednesday's Suburban Council girls soccer game in Latham.
Meghan Doyle tied the game for Niskayuna (8-1-0) in the 16th minute of the second half with a goal off Jackie McCullough's pass. Doyle then won the game in the final two minutes with an unassisted goal.
Stephanie Church put Shaker ahead 1-0 in the third minute of the game when she scored off a pass from Erica Vallecorsa. Blue Bison goaltender Jamie Durant made eight saves to keep her team in the game.
In other Suburban Council girls soccer action Wednesday, Bethlehem defeated Columbia 3-1 to keep pace with South Division leader Guilderland, which defeated Colonie 3-1.
Tara Teal, Stephanie Dootz and Dana Donnelly tallied for Bethlehem (6-2-1), which sits one game behind Guilderland in the South Division standings. Lindsay Mulligan scored for Columbia.
Bethlehem goaltender Emily Venezia made six saves to pick up the victory.
In Guilderland, Jess Capone scored twice in the first half to lift the Lady Dutch (7-1-1) to victory. Michaela Maybee tallied in the second half off a Lauren Kogelmann pass.
Andrea Guidarelli scored a first half goal for Colonie (1-7-0).
The Shaker boys soccer team scored on a second half penalty kick to pull out a 1-1 tie against Niskayuna in Wednesday's Suburban Council North Division game in Niskayuna.
Following a scoreless first half, Niskayuna took a 1-0 lead on Tyler Garrity's goal, but Jackson DuMont converted a penalty kick with less than three minutes left in regulation for Shaker.
Niskayuna had several chances to put the Blue Bison away in the second half as three players hit the crossbar with their shots. Shaker had its own near miss in overtime when a shot veered wide of the far post.
In other boys soccer action, Mekeel Christian Academy posted a 4-0 victory over Canajoharie in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Tai Aderounmu had a big game for the Lions with a hat trick. He scored in the final minute of the first half and added two goals in the second half to put Canajoharie away. Kenny Aderounmu had the other MCA goal.
The Guilderville girls swim team rallied to edge Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 94-91 in Wednesday's duel meet in Burnt Hills.
BH-BL had an 87-84 lead going into the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay. But the Guilderville team of jackie Cunningham, Hannah Liu, Nicole Das and Mackenzie Cietek finished first with a time of 3:56.79 to give the visitors the points necessary for pulling out the victory.
Jenna Bickel led Guilderville with victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard freestyle. Cietek contributed a win in the 50-yard freestyle, and Helen Merkley added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke.
Sara Swett had wins in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles for BH-BL. Lauren Rabideau won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke, and Lauren Katz finished first in the 1-meter diving competition.
