The village of Lake George has launched a new festival to add to its ever-expanding lineup of attractions.
Called the Lake George Oktoberfest & Fall Festival, the weekend-long event is to be held Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2. Activities are to be centered along Beach Road.
The fest, set for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, is being held in conjunction with the Wagenfest, a celebration of vintage Volkswagens and Porches. The car show has an entry fee of $5.
German food, music and biers will be featured at the festival, which includes children’s activities, street entertainers and other attractions.
German “Oompah” music will be featured, and 12 different German biers are to be available, along with authentically prepared German food, event organizers said this week.
A free craft show is to offer handmade items from a variety of artisans.
The fest will also feature a bounce house, street entertainers, a juggler & unicyclist and face painting. A fireworks display is set for about 7:45 p.m. Saturday night. The free aerial show is sponsored by Fort William Henry Resort, Shoreline Cruises and the Lake George Steamboat Co.
