    LEMONAIDES — Young volunteers Jamisyn Baker, Sophia Tedesco, Maguire Baker, and Jaryn Mazzariello-Peer crewed a lemonade stand last week to help raise money, with the Southwestern Council On Aging, for the 2015 Walk-to-End Alzheimer’s. Members of the Rutland City Fire Department stopped by to show their support and purchase some hirst-quenching lemonade. The Rutland Walk-to-End Alzheimer’s will be held Saturday, Sept, 12, in Main Street Park located along U.S. Route 7. For details, contact Heather L Baker at 802-786-5990 or

    The Rutland County Women’s Shelter provides advocacy and shelter for women experiencing domestic and sexual violence. Pictured: HopeLine’s grant of $10,000 to the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter to replace a washer and dryer in the shelter and an additional set of appliances.

  • The Ticonderoga Fire Department Auxilary basket party on Monday, Aug. 3, is expected to a draw a big crowd to the Ticonderoga firehouse. Money raised goes to benefit the fire department.

  • Internationally acclaimed painter Cate Mandigo will be holding a show and sale on two Wednesdays — July 29 and Aug. 5 at the Helpers Fund office in Chestertown — with half of the proceeds going to the charity. Her paintings and prints will be deeply discounted as a way to give back to the community, she said. The Helpers Fund office is located across state Rte. 9 from the Chester Municipal Center.
