The following poem was submitted by former Vermont resident J.P. Ashton of Little Falls, N.J. The excerpt serves as a reminder to everyone to do something special for mom this Mother's Day-
"A Mother's Lament"
Don't wait to love me 'til my ultimate demise
Don't come to my resting place laden with flowers
Don't spend tedious hours grooming a gravesite
Rather come to me now and share your love and understanding...
Don't wait 'til I gently slip into senility
Don't come then and expect me to saver your presence
Don't spend needless time reflecting on what could have been
Rather come to me now and share your love and understanding...
Don;t let peer pressure or spouse deter your caring
I want you today, as you are, with whatever understanding you have at your command
Stand proud, apart from others, and be glad you loved and shared now
Then, I'll depart from this world, as a Mother, who has been totally fulfilled.
