JOHNSBURG - Local organizations or individuals may acquire a 2008 Bed Tax application for grant funds to be used in 2009.
The applications are due by Dec. 31, 2008. In early January, the local Bed Tax Committee will score the applications and based on the scoring outcome, make its recommendations to the Town Board by the end of the month.
The purpose of the occupancy tax is to promote tourism within Warren County. Each year the town is provided a base amount of $30,000 to use for this purpose. Based on the amount of taxes collected, some years more money is available to distribute.
The committee encourages all interested groups to apply. A rating schedule is used to review each application. The rating encourages venues that attract multiple-day visits, promote information about Johnsburg, enhance the image of Johnsburg, and benefits Johnsburg specifically.
Although new ventures will receive a higher rating than more established ones, all are encouraged to apply.
