Jaguars seek to gain experience
JOHNSBURG | The Johnsburg varsity boys basketball team will take to the floor with some new faces this season, along with first year head coach Steve McNally.
“We are very young with two seniors, one junior and the rest are sophomores and freshmen,” McNally said. “We look forward to being competitive as we build our program and move forward.”
The Jaguars roster includes seniors Conner Cavanaugh and Austin Frasier; junior Alex Morehouse; sophomores Cameron Allen, Jaxon Roblee, Ryan Morris, Anthony Galle and Deston Dufrane; along with freshman Yandon Cleveland.

Lady Jaguars return solid core
NORTH CREEK | The Lady Jaguars varsity basketball team will look to improve upon their 10-10 record last season led by senior all star Khaleah Cleveland.
“We return five of our seven players from last year including Khaleah, who averaged 15.8 points and had 207 rebounds last season,” said second year coach Randy LaFountain. “Also returning is Sydney Selleck, who has improved her shooting and overall game. We are working very hard on improving our skills.”
LaFountain said he expects Aileen Stevens, Madison Green and Cheyenne Tabano to make up the starting lineup as the five returning players from last season, and also sees freshman Cassie Dunbar getting a lot of playing time off the bench.
The Lady Jaguars roster includes senior Khaleah Cleveland; juniors Sydney Selleck and Breanne Shubert; sophomores Aileen Stevens, Cheyenne Tabano, Madison Green, Jennie Allen and Julie Verforth; and freshmen Cassie Dunbar and Madison Vaus.
Johnsburg Nordic looks to build
NORTH CREEK | The Johnsburg varsity Nordic ski team hopes to continue to build off the successes they have had heading into the new season.
“We have a lot of new modified skiers which we are excited about,” said coach Julia West.
“We hope to have a few athletes make it to states and maybe junior nationals. Most importantly, we hope to hook a lot of new skiers to a wonderful lifetime sport.
“We are working on strength, endurance and skill development, and are getting on snow and starting skiing early. We focus on individual goals as well as a solid and cohesive team spirit.”
West said there are some athletes who will have their goals set on state competition as well as national events.
“Ava Anderson hopes to make the state and junior national team again,” she said. “Sheridan Millington and Gabe Smith would like to make states and possibly nationals as well. All of our team members plan to improve their skiing skills and endurance.”
Members of the boys Nordic roster include David Anderson, Gabe Powers, Clayton Schmale, Gabe Smith, Wolfgang Neal, Skyler Richards and Noah Pooler.
Girls roster members include Ava Anderson, Sheridan Millington, Manon Stevens, Hunter Mulvey and Mackenzie Lucid.
